Rental terms & requirements

This is a plain-language summary of the main responsibilities that apply when renting the trailer.

01

Before booking or pickup

Review the trailer specifications, towing requirements, insurance requirements, and full rental agreement. The agreement accepted through the rental process controls if it differs from this summary.

02

Renter responsibility

The renter is responsible for the trailer from pickup until it is returned, inspected, and checked in, including safe towing, proper loading, cargo securement, legal use, on-time return, and condition.

03

Insurance requirement

Renters must carry their own primary insurance covering the tow vehicle, rented trailer, drivers, cargo, towing activity, third-party claims, property damage, liability, and intended use. Any insurance carried by JH Trailer Rental is for its own protection.

04

Damage, loss, and theft

The renter is responsible for damage to, loss of, or theft of the trailer during the rental period as provided in the agreement, including applicable repair, replacement, towing, storage, recovery, diminished-value, and loss-of-use costs.

05

Payment authorization

A valid payment card may be required. Booking, signing, paying, or taking possession authorizes charges for amounts owed under the rental agreement through the rental software or payment processor.

06

Tow vehicle and equipment

Use a properly rated tow vehicle with the correct hitch, 2 5/16-inch ball, round 7-pin plug, working wiring, brake controller when required, mirrors, suitable tires, and sufficient capacity. The trailer payload limit is 10,580 pounds.

07

Prohibited uses

Do not overload the trailer, use it off-road or unlawfully, carry hazardous or illegal materials or passengers, sublease or transfer it, allow an unauthorized driver, or tow it with an unsafe or improperly rated vehicle.

08

Pickup inspection

Inspect the visible trailer condition, hitch, coupler, chains, breakaway cable, tires, wheels, lights, brakes, ramps, deck, jack, and included equipment. Submit any required before photos and immediately report damage or unsafe conditions.

09

Return requirements

Return the trailer on time, to the agreed location, empty and in the condition received except for ordinary wear. Complete the online return steps, submit required photos, and secure the trailer.

10

Late or failed return

Late returns may be charged at the applicable daily rate, and partial days may be charged as full days. Recovery costs and other remedies may apply as stated in the agreement.

11

Accident, damage, theft, or breakdown

Immediately notify JH Trailer Rental. Contact police when legally required or when an accident, theft, vandalism, injury, or third-party property damage occurs. Do not authorize repairs or towing without approval except to prevent immediate harm.

12

Tolls, tickets, and tracking

The renter is responsible for tolls, citations, violations, penalties, and related fees. The trailer may use GPS or tracking technology, which may not be removed, disabled, blocked, damaged, or tampered with.
